Life lessons from First Grade
To promote healthy living, the children participated in a Jog-a-thon! They ran soooo many laps! Then, they received a special surprise of Mini Jamba Juice for everyone!

The kids decided to sell animal inspired bracelets in order to help save endangered animals. Their goal was to collect $100 and therefore, they would be able to save 2 animals. After one week of making and selling the bracelets, they were able to raise $556 dollars! They are now able to adopt 12 endangered animals! I am so proud of them!

Pain doesn’t last.

Gretha: Elby’s hurt!!!!! She just got kicked in the face!!!!!

*I quickly run over to Elby because I can see that she is crying a lot.*

Me: Elby! Elby! Elby! Are you okay?!

*At this point, Elby is still crying hysterically.*

Elby: Do I look okay?!?!?!?!?!

*I examine her face to make sure there’s nothing broken or bleeding.*

Me: Yes, you look okay.

*Elby immediately stops crying.*

Elby: Okay.

*She begins to dribble a basketball and continues with recess as if nothing happened.*

Sometimes, even when you don’t feel okay, it just takes someone to reassure you that everything is fine and life as you knew it is back to normal.

Cry Baby vs. Sensitive

*Amber approaches me while crying hysterically.*

Me: What’s wrong Amber? Why are you crying?

*Amber is crying so much she is unable to answer*

Me: Stop crying. What is wrong?

Amber: Gretha…. called me a crybaby! *Starts crying hysterically again*

*We walk over to Gretha*

Amber: I felt really mad and sad when you called me a cry baby.

Gretha: I never called you a cry baby. I just said you are sensitive.

Amber: Well, I don’t like when people call me names.

Gretha: I didn’t call you a name. That’s what you are. I’m sorry you’re crying but i don’t even really know why.

Amber: Okay, I accept your apology. But don’t call me names!

If who you are makes you cry, then you should really think about improving yourself.

I haven’t posted in a while…

So much has been going on that I haven’t been able to update this consistently. However, I have been taking pictures, videos, and keeping track of all the funny stories. So get ready for a posting frenzy!

Pajama Day!

Pajama Day!

Silly 6 year olds.

*While we are suppose to be reading books, I see Fernando lounging on the chair…*

Me: Fernando, What are you doing?

Fernando: Chillaxin in the bathtub.

*Wanting to laugh, but trying to keep a straight face because he is clearly doing the wrong thing.

Me: What are you suppose to be doing?

Fernando: Chicken Wing!

Sometimes, even when what’s happening isn’t suppose to be happening, you should appreciate the moments that can make you smile.

Just a song the 1st graders made up to make each other laugh.

Chicken wing, Chicken wing

Hotdog and Bologna.

Cheese and Macaroni

Chillen with the homies.

Silly Kids.

College.

Gretha: Miss Nikki, since you’re our TA this year, does that mean you get to be a real teacher next year.

Me: I wish! I still need to take some classes before I can be a real teacher.

Kaylee: Oh yeah, grown ups take classes too, I think they call it………………..college?

Me: Yes, thats correct! It’s called college!

Gretha: You wanna know something Miss Nikki?

Me: Sure.

Gretha: Some people get pregnant in college.

Me: Yeah, I’ve seen that before.

Gretha: You wanna know what I think?

Me: Sure.

Gretha: I don’t think you should have a baby if you still live with mommy and daddy.

What a wise 1st grader indeed.

p and h put together make the F sound.

Fernando took the consonant blending rule to a whole new level and decided that he would write his name with a ph instead of an f.
